2026
Our February project is the EGA Petite Project, Lacy Canvas Scissor Case, a counted canvas design by national teacher Margaret Bendig. This elegant and practical case features Hapsburg Lace, a counted embroidery technique inspired by the delicate lace styles of the Hapsburg court.
This project is a wonderful introduction to counted canvas stitches and can be stitched using #8 pearl cotton as suggested, or with a variety of threads for a personalized look. During the class, we will explore how to start and stop your threads, as well as how to execute the stitches to maintain that lacy look. If you would like to add beads to your scissor case, we will also explore the different bead types and sizes, as well as different ways to secure them to canvas.
Join us for this fun class and create a case for keeping your scissors safe and easy to find in your project bag.
Thanks to Margaret Bendig for providing the instructions for this project. Her instructions are available here:

Halloween Blackwork Biscornu Instructions In March, we’ll explore the art of stitching a blackwork biscornu. Participants may choose between two beautiful designs: Halloween Blackwork Biscornu by Kim Beamish or Blackwork Hearts by Carolyn Standing Webb.
Halloween Blackwork Biscornu Instructions
Joanne will guide the class through essential blackwork techniques, including backstitch and double running stitch, making this class suitable for stitchers looking to build or refine their skills. Participants will provide their own fabric and threads, allowing for plenty of personal creativity. We will fully finish our biscornus at our June meeting.
We can’t wait to see the wide variety of colors, fabrics, and interpretations these biscornus will inspire!
Please note: This meeting will be held at Clare's home.
Our April program will be led by Deryl Pace, who completed her Doctorate in Physical Therapy at the University of Rhode Island in 2015. Deryl brings a thoughtful, body-aware approach to stitching, offering guidance on comfort, hand use, and posture to reduce needlework injuries.
The stitching is complete—now it’s time for the magic of finishing! Our May program will guide you through the final steps of transforming your scissor case into a fully finished, ready-to-use treasure. You’ll learn the finishing process from start to finish, with helpful options for attaching the Ultrasuede lining along the way.
We can’t wait to see the wonderful variety of scissor cases—each one made special by your individual color choices and personal touches. Every piece tells its own story, and yours will be no exception!
In June, Bev will teach us how to fully finish a biscornu from start to finish. Known for her beautiful, expertly finished work, Bev will use the provided instructions as a starting point while sharing her many tips and tricks to help you achieve a polished, professional result.

Color can make your stitches glow—or cause a project to fall flat. This class is designed especially for embroiderers and knitters who want to understand how colors work together and how to use them intentionally in their needlework.
Join us in August for Susan Hoeksta’s class on color theory. Learn the basics of the color wheel, tints and shades, and color harmony, and discover how to create contrast, balance, and flow in thread and yarn. You’ll gain practical tools for choosing colors with confidence and adapting patterns to suit your own style.
Many stitchers find this class to be a true eye-opener that changes how they approach every project.

The Banded Stitch Sampler is the guild's year long project for 2025. Each month, we will learn and add a new stitch. Much like school girl samplers from long ago, our sampler can be used as a refrence for adding decorative stitches to your own work. Banding is provided by the guild.
In January, we have a special project: The Embelished Egg designed by Judy Harper. Learn to stitch on canvas using a variety of threads and stitches. All materials will be provided by the guild.
